English sites expats in Shanghai should know

by Allen on Aug.07, 2009, under Uncategorized

Sorry guys for inactivity… there will not be any events for a while…

But here’s a list of sites that you should visit to find other events, in case you don’t know these sites already.

ShanghaiExpat.com

One of the oldest sites serving the expat community. The forum on the site means you have a chance to interact with others and make friends. ShanghaiExpat also organizes its own events regularly.

SmartShanghai.com

Among this list of sites, SmartShanghai has the best site design. And to be fair, it’s got really good content, too. Definitely a good source of information to help you stay on top of what’s going on.

CityWeekend Shanghai

Like most of the sites here, it’s got a good listing of places to go and things to do. A good reference site if you wanna quickly find a restaurant or something…

City Moments

Same as others with listing of venues and events. Also has a lot of event photos so if you’re bored, go there and see pictures of scantly dressed girls in night clubs…

SH Online

More of the same for this one…

Then there’s Shanghaiist.com, a English blog covering what’s going on here in Shanghai. It’s got many sister sites covering other metropolian areas around the world… Shanghaiist hosts its own social mixers, too. EnjoyShanghai is a classifed ads site with a printed version. So go there if you need to place an ad…

Last but not least, there’s also the popular ChinaSmack which translates popular Chinese content into English for expats. It’s a good source of information, especially stuff that you’re not likely to see on traditional media, which, as we all know well, is highly controlled here.
