YUP Shanghai

We’re planning our first event for early March and it’ll be a weekday social mixer. At the moment we’re selecting a venue. Please stay tuned!

Initially I was debating if I’d use Ning.com to create a social network much like ShanghaiStuff.com or Shanghai Fun but in the end I decided that it wasn’t necessary because I don’t need people to blog or post pictures here and I will use Facebook and a Chinese SNS (to be determined) to promote YUP Shanghai anyway. So why set up our own online social network and carry the burden to have to grow it from zero?

I am thinking, however, to install a BBS later to post more Shanghai-related information there and to allow member interaction. And I’d keep only YUP Shanghai related information on the main blog (here). Anyway, once the BBS goes up, I hope you guys will actually use it!

Happy “Niu” Year, everyone! It’s the beginning of a new Chinese year and YUP Shanghai is getting ready for an exciting year. 2009 looks like it’ll be a tough year for many people, but that’s more reason why we need fun and interesting social and business events. Stay tuned!
